Stompy
Stompy is a unique skinned blue goat that can be found around Mount Neverest. It seems to have more than one possible patrol paths, I could find it  near Shado-Pan Monastery in Kun Lai Summit patrols from Winter's Blossom to near the summit of Mount Neverest (through the falling ice and icy windy tornadoes and all!).

Stompy's tracks are now spawning correctly, no need to follow them backwards anymore!

Portent spawns just like Madexx, in one of four random colours, but he is not a colour changer.
He travels from the very western wall through the entire zone and ends north-west of Mogushan Palace. My map is based on a map done by TheDoomcookie (Petopia Forums), as he goes into phasing when you haven't unlocked the August Celestial dailies.

Bloodtooth makes you run... a lot to catch up with him. He's the only epic dragon turtle model that's tamable in the game. He is commonly seen near Angler's Wharf in Krasarang Wilds but he walks along the entire coast up to the wall bordering with Dread Wastes.
I've managed to map him for half of his path until a server restart came up. The other right half of the map is based on the map done by

Glimmer
Glimmer is an incredibly sneaky aqua strider with a unique colour. Commonly found around the Arboretum in Jade Forest, but he walks down to the Jade Temple (and vanishes in phasing). So I've only been able to map his route partly and completed it with Kalliope's excellent map.

One thing that hunters do is just wait at the river east of Nectarbreeze orchard, using flare as sooner or later he will cross the river during his pathing. I'd suggest staying around the Arboretum grounds, ideally near the large fallen log before he wanders out under the bridge of the Temple of the Jade Serpent and into phasing.

You have to follow the tracks backwards, they're still bugged like all the other tracks!

Patrannache
Patrannache, the presumed mate of Mazzranache (pink strider, Mulgore, remember?) took me days to find!
Not only are his tracks tiny and even invisible in sections of his path, but he roams around the entire zone! But with help of Quivering's map, I was able to track him down, flare him up and follow him from Half Hill to the eastern start of his path. I have mapped that stretch, and have completed the other half with Quiver's map, as it takes him a very long time to go from A to B.

You don't have to follow the tracks backwards anymore!

Rockhide the Immovable

Rockhide is relatively easy to find, as his path is much smaller than some of the other hunter creatures. I had fun mapping his path with the company of Loki, on his beta huntress. Like all trackable pets, he's a unique skin. He does phase in the north.

Onyx to Goodness

Onyx Egg

For all those that liked the Netherwing egg hunt, Blizzard has added a very similar feature to gain reputation with the Order of the Cloud Serpent.
Throughout Windward Isle in set locations, you can find and collect Onyx eggs that you can turn in up to exalted status. With the guild perks, you can get 500 up to 550 rep per egg turn in!

The eggs don't sparkle but you get the golden cog wheel upon mousing over one. They are bind on pickup and stack in the bags. They also seem to respawn in a set time, independently on how many people are looting the eggs, so if a lot of players are about, it will be a tough battle.

You can find all the locations I've come across so far in the Onyx Egg page at the top of the site.

Here is my Azure cloud serpent! But on live, I will get the golden one, it looks like the sky at dawn!

Alani's mount drop

Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent

Thanks to a dedicated beta player named Esinar, we have a video showing how he uses the sky crystal to remove Alani's protective shroud and kills it.
The crystal already removes a portion of Alani's health (it's a short channeling spell) which should tag the cloud serpent to the player using it (it would make sense!)

Esinar's Alani kill

Alani drops the Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent. The mount, according to the tooltip, requires exalted reputation from the August Celestials. However, like all cloud serpents, you also need to be exalted with the Order of the Cloud Serpent to mount it.

Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent

It will take time and effort to earn this pretty mount. You can't just camp for it to spawn, you have to work for it. But you also know that sooner or later, you will have ten sky shards to summon it. What happens after you use the crystal, and you disconnect, someone kills you or even Alani kills you...) we'll find out. I hope it doesn't mean starting from 0, but with the time-lost protodrake and Aeonaxx, the exact same thing could happen to you!

If you just found this post and have no clue about sky shards and where to find them, please click on the Alani tab at the top of the site.

Hexapos was the last rare hunter creature I needed to uncover. It took me a while, as a lvl 86 in a lvl 90 zone without flying. He's got a huge patrol range and is the only white strider since Marticar, the rare Outland strider got a coat change.

You have to follow the tracks backwards, they're still bugged like all the other tracks!

Hello egg-seeking travellers.

I made new maps for the onyx eggs. If you can read my writing, you have the coordinates for each egg. There's still more eggs, but you'll find them along the way while looking for these. there's only so many places they can be at.

Many eggs, handle it!
This would be great to see on live :)

 Sky crystal not tagging Alani

Update: Yay for hotfix (Patch 5.0.5) October 19

It is no longer possible for other players to tap Alani in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms while the Sky Crystal is being channeled.

Source: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/7207170

Alani-tagging is back to how it is supposed to be. I'm glad the issue got sorted so quickly!

Old post

Just a head's up:

If you're one of those people who grinded sky shards for hours, and finally created their crystal, be mindful when you decide to pull Alani.

I feel very sorry for this guy, you can hear his disappointment in his voice -  I mean, grinding these shards for hours and then getting her stolen away like that...

If this isn't a bug, here's two things to pay attention to:

  • Don't announce in trade/general/even guild that you're going to use the sky crystal.
  • Find a quiet time on your server, early hours etc., find a spot that's away from the daily hubs, and then pull Alani.

Recruitment Post: Unity Raiding Community (25 EU) [Updated 10.1.13]

Since the Ulduar Raid instance came out, I've been a member of the Unity Raiding Community on our EU server Steamwheedle Cartel. It is the perfect place for me: fellow players, some that have been raiding since Vanilla, mature and interesting people, raids with commited raidleaders and players and a steady progression. I've had my best time in WoW with this group, together with my guildie Natarumah, who is hosting an excellent Shadowpriest blog. Natarumah is one of the officers in Unity, and being a much better writer than I am, I allow myself to copy his recruitment post, hoping to find some rare-crazy and raiding-interested people to join our community.

Throughout this post I've added some screenshots of Unity's progress through the years, being one of the oldest raiding groups on the server and still going strong.

Unity and Ragnaros, the original

What is Unity?

Unity is a 25-man raiding community on Steamwheedle Cartel (EU), Alliance side. As a raiding community we don’t ask of people to join a particular guild, so people can remain with their friends if that’s what they like. The core guild of Unity is the House of Elements, and many members of Unity are in this guild. We’re a moderate progression guild – we don’t push for world-firsts but aim for steady progression and a sustainable raiding experience.

Past achievements include achieving every single Glory achievement since they were released and completing several Legendaries (Val’anyrs, Shadowmournes, Dragonwraths and Fangs of the Father).
Our current progress is 6/6 Mogushan Vaults, 6/6 in Heart of Fear and 1/4 in Terrace of Eternal Spring.

Raid times:
We raid every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 20:30 server time until 24:00 server time. Gathering time for the raid is 20:15. Our voice chat is based on Mumble.

Recruitment Status

[Updated 10.01.2013] We’re looking for:
  • Warlock
  • Monk (dps)
Our Tanking and Healing team is very strong and reliable, so we don’t need mainspec tanks or healers. You are welcome to have those as off-spec, but it’s unlikely they will be called on for the time.

Key talents:
  • Knowing your class, and willing to improve
  • Willing to listen to orders, perform encounter-specific functions and discuss tactics
  • Teamplayer
  • Ability to raid on at least 2 of the 3 days mentioned above

Looking for more to save Pandaria!

If you’re interested in joining us, please visit http://unity.home.pl/forum/index.php for more information. You will find our recruitment forum here, with more essential info and our current applications. Your application is your first impression, so be sure to answer the questions and give us good insight in who you are. We recruit people based on their personality as much as their skill.

Note for cross-server applications:
We accept people from other realms, and some of our members today are the result of successful cross-realm applications and transfers. I strongly suggest making your app and linking us a combat log (such as from worldoflogs.com) which shows us how you perform, before you transfer. There will be plenty of time to hop over to Steamwheedle Cartel (EU) once we decide to give you a trial run, and it’s a waste of time and money if you transfer blindly.

Bombyx

Bombyx
With the arrival of patch 5.1 also comes Bombyx, a unique-coloured dark red caterpillar (err, silk worm), who loves silkweed! He's quite large, as you can see on the screenshot where he passes a Saurok, but shrinks down considerably when tamed.

Well, till now, we've been following tracks that had a beginning and an end. Not for Bombyx. His tracks look just like smaller silweed plants! And since silkweed grows on the borders of the waters anyway, you'll get a bit of a hard time tracking him down.

Bombyx roams the general middle area north of the Temple of the Red Crane, about where the lake splits into two rivers. I have not included a map with his path, this is because he is confined to a relatively small area, and turns and circles and pauses along this path! What I suggest is just throwing flares down where you see a lot of his tracks.

The Relic Hunter: an Introduction

$
0
0
As promised, I will feature all the rare objects and npc's of the Pandaria continent that belong to a series of achievements that, ultimately, will grant your character the title: "[Name], the Relic Hunter".

Now, becoming a relic hunter is not hard, all you need is patience. The items that account for the achievements used to have a long respawn timer, but that timer has been considerably shortened a few weeks ago. What I did, and what I suggest, is having a look every now and then, or when you happen to be in the area. You can also keep a character in one location, or log off in a location of an item you want to find. Sooner or later, you will have found them.

But first things first:

How do I become a relic hunter?

A good starting point is knowing the location of the treasures. There are a lot of helpful maps around, and wowhead guides are generally a good start. I will be making maps as this blog progresses, but for now, I will point you to the excellent guide of Balgair on Wowhead:

There are a lot of locations to remember, but luckily, there is an addon that adds them all to your map:

Now that you can see them on your ingame map, you can create yourself a route with the addon Routes and just link them all together, so you have a line on the minimap guiding you from one location to the other.

However, some of these rare treasures come in the form of npc's, which you can add to _npcscan:

  • Jade Forest: Jade Warrior Statue: NPCscan ID: 64272
  • Dread Wastes: Glinting Rapana Whelk: NPCscan ID: 65552
  • Kun Lai Summit: Frozen Trail Packer: NPCscan ID: 64227
  • Valley of the Four Winds: Ghostly Pandaren Craftsman: NPCscan ID: 64191
  • Valley of the Four Winds: Ghostly Pandaren Fisherman: NPCscan ID: 64004

What do I need to keep in mind?

When you mouse over one of the items, your cursor turns into a cogwheel. Before you right-click to loot the item, make sure that you cleared the area from any mobs that can attack you, and don't move at all while you loot: else the loot window that appears can close and the item despawns and is lost.

You can also only loot (and see) an item once on a character, but you can loot it multiple times on different characters.

Which achievements are there?

You start off small, and move your way up:

  1. Lost and Found
  2. Finder's Keepers
  3. One man's trash...
  4. ...Is another man's treasure

That's all to know to start, happy hunting!
